“How are we handling things if she gets too desperate tonight? I mean, if she comes crawling, looking up at me with those big, brown eyes…” During past rallies when she got like this, we would always distract her in other ways until she started coming down.

Brodi shrugs. “This rally is different. We are actually allowed to help her like she usually helps. As long as Zane gets proper attention, right? So, I mean, if she is needy…”

“Let her come to one of us, though? Instead of instigating things ourselves?”

“Right.”

“We’re still making the announcement tonight, right?” I ask next.

“Yeah. As soon as she is done making the Father sin. We don’t really have a choice since the Kick-Start Party is tomorrow night.” Brodi pops the ear cup back on, and his attention reroutes completely. That rolodex mind of his clearly stopped spinning and revealed a card with something requiring a sudden change of focus. With deep concentration pulling his eyebrows together, he tunes out everything around him and starts rapidly flicking through his phone.
